I was told that newborn baby needs a lot of sleep, especially for the first three weeks. That was what Ezanne is doing most of the time. She is a deep sleeper as we could hardly wake her up, despite continuous gentle shake on her and loud noises from the television. One of her cousin even tried to mumble close to her ears for more than 5 minutes but she still remained so cool.. enjoyed her blissful sleep.
She would drink milk in a superfast speed and always seem to be hungry when awake cause she tend to stick out her tongue, licking her lips... so cute. This should be inherited from her parents. After feeding in the evening, she will keep yawning with her mouth opened so wide. Mummy said baby has this little genes of godma. Haha..
Ezanne does not like to be alone. She wants to be carried and talked to her. She will listen attentively while we talked to her and seemed to be trying to understand. Sometimes you could see her smiling in her sleep. I wonder what did she dream of... milk milk or godma?
I tend to sleep most of the time. So you adults should talk to me as much as you can while I am awake..

Do I look pretty in this pose?
Or this pose is cuter?
Hmm, I feel so safe in daddy's arms..
My mummy in confinement "jail"... keke..
Yawn... yawn... this is me after dinner time... I really resemble my godma...

One month confinement period seems to be testing mummy's perserverance. She could hardly stay at home since all along, not even to mention about one full month without stepping out from the house. It's like sentencing her to one month jail term.. haha.. Mummy kept complaining to godma that she was so bored at home and the white fungus seemed to be growing on her... keke.. She used to live to eat. But now, she eat to live as she is getting sick of the confinement food.
Mummy, you need to eat and rest well so that you can recover faster and have enough energy to take care of Ezanne okie. There's only two more weeks to go before you can be released from "jail". Godma and baby Ezanne will count down the days for you... jia you!!! jia you!!!

Ezanne had been under special care nursery unit since day one cause she was having fever. Her fever had subsided in the evening but however, she was not allowed to be transferred to the normal nursery as they need to take daily blood test on her due to insufficient calcium level. No one is not allowed to enter the special care nursery except the parents and grandparents. Her aunties and myself can only stand outside the nursery and look at her through the glass window... and we saw her playing with her tongue on day one.. haha..
The test results were good on Saturday and finally she could discharge from the hospital in the evening and went back to her home sweet home. By the end of the four days stay in the hospital, there were four needle holes found on the back of Ezanne's little hand palm. Those were caused by the daily blood test taken on her and they had turned into bluish black since then. It really pained our hearts at the sight of it.

Sleeping peacefully in her home sweet home

This is my mummy, godma and me

Wooh, godma had baby Ezanne all by herself... hehe...

Yummy, yummy... everybody said I drank a lot of milk. Even the nurses commented that I have big appetite... but I want to drink a lot so that I can grow up faster mah..

Mummy did not have a very smooth pregnancy & labour process. During the 3rd trimester of her pregnancy, she had a slightly higher than normal glucose level. She was required to test her own glucose level seven times a day, once in a week, till end of pregnancy. This meant that she will have seven needle holes in the fingertips at the end of each day of the tests!
The week beginning 3rd Apr ’06 was a long week for us, especially daddy, mummy & godma. Ezanne was expected to due on 9 Apr 06. However, Mummy had to be admitted earlier to the hospital for induce as the fluid level in her waterbag was getting lower. She was admitted on 4th Apr, 9.30am but however, the contraction did not start until after 11pm. Mummy was then transferred to the delivery suite at 3am. Unfortunately, she had an unsuccessful attempt at natural birth. I received a shocking call from mummy at about 12.30pm from the delivery room and informed me that baby’s heartbeat had slowed down and mummy had also started to bleed. I was in quite a daze as it was really unexpected and just can’t bear the thought of losing baby Ezanne in mummy’s womb. After 16 hours of labour, mummy had to go for caesarian and thank goodness, both mother and baby came out of the operating theatre safely.
Godma went to the hospital in the evening immediately after work. My heart went to mummy when I see her lying still in bed, with her face looking so pale and exhausted. I had never seen her so weak and pale in our past 11 years of friendship. So Ezanne, I want you to know that mummy had been through a lot of hardship to bring you into this world. You must be a good girl and be filial to your parents when you grow up okie… This incident had also made us cherish you even more. And yes, WE LOVE YOU, EZANNE!!!

Most of my aunties said I looked like mummy, especially my nose, mouth, face shape and black dense hair... what about my eyes? I seem to have hidden double eyelids. Hmm, godma feels that it's too early to tell yet cos my eyes are still quite puffy at this stage.. hehe

I have been playing with the thoughts of creating a blog for my best friend's daughter for months... before her birth. This was inspired by a good friend of mine, who had created a lovely & memorable blog for his son. I was wondering if I would be like him, diligently updating the blog for his kid.
After seeing baby Ezanne, I have decided to come up with this blog for her. In this blog, I would want to record incidents happening around Ezanne, to help her preserve her childhood memories cos I myself did not have a vivid memory of my childhood. I would also record my thoughts on her growing up and her parents' aspiration for her.
I will try to update this blog as frequent as I can... until I am sick of blogging??? Hopefully it could be taken over by Ezanne's parents eventually. Parents of Ezanne... you got my obvious hint? Hehe.. you are always welcome to have a share in this blog.
